Have you ever wondered what it was like to travel with the wisemen to Bethlehem? What rout did they take and where exactly in the east did they come from? What places did they travel through? Who did they meet along the way? Did they travel only at night or could they see the star in the daytime too? Was the sky always clear or did they have to wait through cloudy nights until the star was visable again? Did they have to wait out sand storms? Where did they stop for food and water? Where did they sleep? What did the wisemen talk about while they traveled? How many wisemen were there? How many camels? Did they have to fight off theives along the way? Did they ever run into trouble or get lost? Did the wisemen ever fall off the camels? Did any camels stuble in the dark or was the star bright enough to light up the trail? What was the journey back to the east like? Did the wisemen tell people about Jesus? Did the camels have names? What were the names of the wisemen? If Camels could talk, they'd have quite a story to share.
If Camels Could Talk
From far in the East
They made quite a walk;
Oh the stories we’d hear
If camels could talk
If camels could talk,
They’d tell of a star—
Shining so bright
And leading so far
There’s so much they could tell us:
The places they passed,
The people they met,
And of arriving at last
Nearly two years they traveled
Hauling gifts of great worth,
Carrying the Magi
To the place of Christ’s birth
Then back to the East
The camels did walk;
Oh the stories we’d hear
If the camels could talk
They’d tell of a Savior
Born one special night;
How a star appeared
And they followed the light
Yes, if camels could talk
They’d have plenty to say;
They walked with wise men, after all,
For quite a long way.

Great thoughts. And... thought-provoking!
